Best Paper award at ICAYS 2017, Beijing

International Conference in Aerospace for Young Scientists

16.11.2017

Sebastian Brulin was awarded the best paper award at the International Conference in Aerospace for Young Scientists ICAYS 2017 in Beijing. Brulin presented a paper entitled: „Breakup of a stretching liquid bridge“ in which the stretching behaviour of liquid bridges for high accelerations is investigated.

Liquid bridge stretching is of interest for a wide field of industrial applications like printing and coating, but also for the stability of aircraft engines because of their importance in the process of ice crystal icing.

In this study, the focus lies on the breakup time during stretching, the breakup length and the contact angles on the end plates for constant accelerations from 10 up to 180 m/s.

The 2nd ICAYS conference was organized by the School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering of Beihang University.
