ECIS Overbeek Gold Medal for Hans-Jürgen Butt

Prof Hans-Jürgen Butt has been awarded the Overbeek Medal 2022 by the European Colloid and Interface Society (ECIS). The award ceremony took place on the occasion of the 36th ECIS Conference on 9 September 2022 in Chania, Greece.
Since 2005, the European Colloid and Interface Society has honoured outstanding careers and inspiring contributions in the field of colloid and interface science with the Overbeek Gold Medal. The prize is awarded annually. The Overbeek Medal is supported by the Overbeek Foundation, which is grateful for donations.
Named after the Dutch physical chemist Theodoor G. Overbeek (1911-2007), the medal recognises leadership and scientific excellence in the field of colloid and interface science over an entire career. The Overbeek Gold Medal thus honours longer periods of scientific excellence that have had an outstanding influence on this field.
