Multiscale Investigations of Boiling of Complex Fluids on Complex Surfaces
In C02 boiling processes are explored at different length scales. From empirical investigations it is known that thermal and hydrodynamic interactions near the contact line significantly affect the process and that textured surfaces and complex fluids (e.g. nanofluids) can cause a significant increase in performance. The aim is to understand the basic mechanisms and to influence the boiling process. Experimental investigations are carried out with complementary heaters. In parallel, the same surfaces and fluids are used in the generic configurations. Thus, a direct linkage with the model development and simulation in area B is guaranteed.
