A01: Forced Wetting and De-Wetting on Complex Surfaces – Generic Configuration Immersed Body
In this experimentally focused project the apparent contact angle for dynamic wetting and dewetting processes on complex surfaces will be investigated, in particular its dependence on velocity, temperature and concentration gradients and the underlying Young’s contact angle. A submersible and rotatable body is used to facilitate diverse wetting/de-wetting conditions, to be observed using a high-speed camera. Provisions and instrumentation are planned to invoke also heat and mass transfer through the body. This is a central project for the SFB, providing validation data and allowing fundamental, preliminary studies for numerous other projects to be performed.
