The publication “Pushing the limits of nanopore transport performance by polymer functionalisation” by Raheleh Pardehkhorram and Annette Andriu-Brunsen has been included in the collection of Chemical Communications HOT Articles 2022.

Inspired by the design and performance of biological pores, polymer functionalisation of nanopores has become an increasingly important area for improving transport performance in recent years. In a feature article, Raheleh Paredehkhorram and Annette Andrieu-Brunsen provide an overview of developments in the field of nanopore functionalisation and the resulting transport performance, including gating based on electrostatic interaction, wettability and ligand binding, stepwise polymerisation-driven transport, and functionalisation-based asymmetric nanopore and nanoporous material design in the transport direction.
